They are raised by their foster parents as strict agnostics and instructed not to accept or deny belief in anything, and must swear by the agnostic code. They are all instructed and given chores or cleaning to do, but the house is never kept too clean as cleanliness is next to godliness, and there might not be a God. They are also only allowed to drink Dr. Pepper as nobody knows what it may taste like.
